Experience

Ms. Aeschlimann started her career as a medical ultrasound sonographer in 1975. In 1988, she joined the pediatric echocardiography lab at the UW Hospital and Clinics. After working in the ultrasound industry as an application specialist in product development and education, she returned to UW Hospitals and Clinics in 1997 as a senior echo/vascular sonographer.

She helped found the UW Vascular Health Screening Program and helped develop the scanning protocols for carotid IMT and brachial artery reactivity at the UW AIRP. In addition to her research activities described below, she provides clinical echocardiography and vascular training to the cardiology fellows and ultrasound students.

She is an active, registered sonographer with the American Registry of Diagnostic Sonographers. She is a member of the American Society of Echocardiography and the Society of Vascular Technology.

Research Interests

Her research interests include ultrasound assessment of atherosclerosis, endothelial function, and clinical trials using vascular ultrasound. Ms. Aeschlimann has participated in several research trials as a sonographer, functions as a core lab study coordinator for local and multicenter research trials, and teaches imaging and quantitation for carotid IMT and brachial artery reactivity studies in our training programs.
